GWT incubator project

September 13th, 2007 - Written by in News

The GWT team has just announced that the project is now up and running. It is hoped that the GWT incubator will eventually contain several widgets submitted by contributors, where they can be discussed and reviewed by all. The best of these might eventually make their way into the GWT libraries themselves. Hopefully this will help us reduce the duplication of similar widgets resulting from the numerous GWT widget libraries out there.

Check out the first couple of projects that have been seeded for examples:

MyGWT widget library

September 12th, 2007 - Written by in News

Darrell Meyer has released a very slick looking open source GWT widget library called MyGWT. Currently the library has some basic widgets including nice looking Buttons, Lists and Trees. A Table widget is said to be coming soon. MyGWT is 100% pure GWT/Java using no 3rd party Javascript which is quite impressive. Check out the Explorer demo to get a feel of the library. Darrell is looking for some feedback so give MyGWT a download and take it for a spin.

Javalobby GWT in Action Review

September 11th, 2007 - Written by in News

I just saw another review of GWT in Action, this time by Michael Smolyak on Javalobby. This review is quite detailed and contrasts with the more negative Slashdot review.

Hanson and Tacy have created a very readable and detailed introduction to the Google Web Toolkit. The thoroughness with which they designed examples to illustrate every concept dealt with in the book and the scope of the topics addressed in it makes GWT in Action a valuable addition to any Web developer library.
